HSC only uses USSF grade 8 certified referees or better. The grade 8 certification is awarded after completion of an 18 hour EPYSA run program and a passing rating on a 100 point test. Entry level (new) referees are also required to participate in a club run scrimmage to gain first hand experience prior to being assigned to an in-house or travel game.

All red cards are reviewed by HSC. Any player receiving a red card may be subject to suspension. Three yellow cards during the season will result in a red card. In addition, in the U19 division, any player receiving a yellow card will be immediately required to leave the field for a 5 minute cool down period. Coaches are permitted to substitute the player.
